1 Overview

🙏 Our commitment: The Divine Bible is built for spiritual growth, not data harvesting. We collect only what we need to provide a great app experience, we never sell your personal data, and we are fully transparent about how it is used.

This Privacy Policy applies to The Divine Bible mobile application ("App"), the website at thedivinebible.com ("Website"), and all related services operated by The Divine Bible ("we," "us," or "our").

By using the App or Website, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. This policy complies with applicable data protection laws including the GDPR (European Union), CCPA (California), COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), and Apple App Store and Google Play data privacy requirements.

2 Data We Collect

We collect data in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from third-party services.

2.2 Data Collected Automatically

2.3 Data from Third Parties

If you sign in using a third-party service (e.g. Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In), we receive basic profile information (name, email) as permitted by that service and your privacy settings. We do not receive your password from these services.

3 How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • Provide the App and its features — including Bible reading, radio streaming, prayer wall, AI features, and personalization
  • Manage your account — create, authenticate, and maintain your user account
  • Process subscriptions — verify premium status and unlock features (payment is processed by Apple/Google, not us)
  • Improve the App — analyse usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Customer support — respond to your enquiries and resolve technical issues
  • Send communications — send transaction-related emails (subscription confirmations, password resets) and, where you consent, promotional or devotional emails
  • Serve advertisements — display relevant ads to free users via third-party ad networks (see Section 6)
  • Safety and security — detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms
  • Legal compliance — comply with applicable laws and regulations

Legal basis for processing (GDPR): We process your data under: (a) contractual necessity — to provide the service you signed up for; (b) legitimate interests — to improve and protect the App; (c) consent — for optional marketing communications; and (d) legal obligation — where required by law.

4 Subscriptions & Payment Data

💳 We never see your payment details. All subscription billing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). The Divine Bible does not collect, process, or store your credit card number, bank details, or any other payment information.

When you subscribe to Divine Premium, the following occurs:

  • Apple or Google processes your payment and notifies us only that a valid subscription exists for your account
  • We store a subscription status token (not payment details) in your account to unlock Premium features
  • We receive anonymized purchase confirmation data (subscription type, start date, expiry date, platform) to manage your access

5 AI Features & Your Data

The Divine Bible uses artificial intelligence for two features: Ask the Messiah and the AI Prayer Generator.

5.1 What data is used

When you use these AI features, the text of your messages and prayer prompts is transmitted to our AI processing service to generate a response. This text may include personal or sensitive information you choose to share.

⚠️ Sensitive Content: We understand that users may share deeply personal information (health concerns, relationship difficulties, grief) when using AI features. We treat this information with the highest level of discretion. We strongly recommend not including full names, addresses, or other identifying information about third parties in your messages.

5.2 How AI data is handled

  • AI conversation content is processed to generate your response and is not used to train AI models without your explicit consent
  • Conversations are stored securely and associated with your account to allow conversation history within the App
  • You can delete your conversation history at any time from within the App settings
  • We do not sell or share your AI conversation data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes

5.3 AI content disclaimer

AI-generated prayers and responses are created by software and should not be treated as authoritative spiritual, medical, or professional advice. Always verify AI-generated content against Scripture and consult qualified spiritual leaders for significant life decisions.

6 Advertising & Analytics

6.1 Advertising (Free Version)

The free version of The Divine Bible contains advertisements served by third-party ad networks. These networks may use cookies, device identifiers (IDFA/GAID), and other technologies to serve personalized ads based on your interests and behaviour across apps and websites.

Our advertising partners may include Google AdMob and other networks. Their respective privacy policies govern their data practices:

You can opt out of personalized advertising:

  • iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable "Allow Apps to Request to Track"
  • Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Opt out of Ads Personalization"

Subscribing to Divine Premium removes all third-party advertisements from the App.

6.2 Analytics

We use analytics services (such as Firebase Analytics) to understand how users interact with the App. These services collect anonymized or pseudonymized usage data. We use this information to improve features, fix bugs, and make better product decisions.

You can opt out of analytics data collection in the App's Privacy Settings.

7 Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

All third-party service providers are contractually required to handle your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.

8 Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide the service and fulfil the purposes described in this policy:

  • Active account data — retained while your account is active
  • AI conversation history — retained for 12 months, then automatically deleted; you can delete it manually at any time
  • Prayer Wall posts — retained until you delete them or your account is closed
  • Subscription records — retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes
  • Analytics data — retained in anonymized or aggregated form for up to 26 months
  • Support correspondence — retained for 3 years after resolution

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

9 Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS (HTTPS)
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Access controls limiting who within The Divine Bible can access personal data
  • Secure deletion procedures for data no longer needed
⚠️ No system is 100% secure. While we take data security seriously, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by law.

10 Children's Privacy

The Divine Bible is rated for users aged 3+ on the app stores and is designed to be family-friendly. However, certain features — including account creation, the Prayer Wall, and AI features — are intended for users aged 13 and over.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@thedivinebible.com and we will delete that information promptly.

For users between 13 and 18, we recommend parental involvement in reviewing these policies and the child's use of community features like the Prayer Wall.

11 Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@thedivinebible.com. We will respond within 30 days (or as required by applicable law). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

Delete Your Account

You can request account deletion directly in the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account) or by emailing privacy@thedivinebible.com. Account deletion will permanently remove your profile, prayer history, Bible annotations, and AI conversation history within 30 days.

12 International Data Transfers

The Divine Bible is a global app used in 60+ countries. Your personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including countries that may have different data protection laws.

Where we transfer data internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, and other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

13 Third-Party Links & Services

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services, including external radio station websites and Bible translation websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you access.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party radio stations, external websites, or services accessible through the App.

14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify you via in-app notification or email where appropriate.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
